The Knife to release fourth studio full-length “Shaking The Habitual” on April 9 through Rabid / Brille / Mute.

"Full of Fire, the first track to surface from the Knife’s forthcoming Shaking the Habitual, is a 9-minute banger that more than lives up to its title. Blessedly, the duo’s stylistic touchstones– the same tricks that countless groups have lifted over the last six years– are present and accounted for, as if they’re picking up exactly where they left off. There’s the fierce, multi-tiered rhythm track, Karin Dreijer‘s malevolent, ever-mutating vocal incantations, and the thoroughly frightening approach to dance music that spurred Mark Pytlik to coin the phrase “haunted house” in his review of 2006’s Silent Shout.

Yet, the reclusive Swedish siblings are not simply donning the same old cloaks this time around. The fever-pitch the track establishes and never releases is far more industrial than they’ve ever sounded before. “Questions and the answers can take very long,” growls Dreijer over the fierce, mechanistic backdrop. True enough, but in this case it’s been more than worth the wait.”

The Knife will be playing this years Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium on Saturday August 17th. Also on the bill: The xx, Nine Inch Nails, Bat For Lashes, Skunk Anansie… plus more TBA

Thursday December 20th !!! Makeout Weird
∆ Lee Reynolds ∆ Raul Garcia ∆ Micha Cárdenas ∆ Zach Blas

“This month, on the eve of the end of the Mayan calendar, we are honored to have Micha Cárdenas and Zach Blas be part of the night!! Micha is a world renowned theorist/author/lecturer/performance artist who all but deconstructs the fabric of time-space. Author of The Transreal: Political Aesthetics of Crossing Realities, Micha more then pushes the boundaries of reality, technology, and gender identity. Zach Blas is an artist-theorist working at the intersections of networked media, queerness, and social practice. Among other places, Zach has taught at UC Berkley and Duke University. Zach’s work bends preconceived notions of what discourse/action can be.

Later in the night Lee Reynolds, Raul Garcia, and Mnstrpsy will provide the soundtrack to human body vibrations and gyrations! Since Moonshake no longer occurs at Kadan (RIP) we are glad to have Moonshake-master Lee Reynolds at the Whistle Stop for a night!!

Come to dance, come to drink, come to have an experimental evening with new friends, come witness/experience experimental ingredients unfold at the Whistle Stop.” –Bobby Bray
